Reverse-engineering STEM lessons for parents, homeschoolers and teachers

Coming soon

Kids explode a real invention into parts, learn what every piece does and why it is made the way it is, then rebuild it and name their own version, with Lumet as their guide in the app.

What every unit covers

Why each material was chosen

Students compare materials and learn the trade-offs behind every pick.

What each part does

One part at a time, from the outside in, with its job in plain words.

How it's really assembled

The real build order, then a rebuild of their own design.

Each grade band (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12) has its own teacher guide with lessons, timing, standards alignment, a hands-on activity using household and classroom items only, and an in-app activity. This curriculum is digital-only: printable, downloadable files. No kits or materials packs exist or are needed.

The Moon Dome Habitat, a low dome on the grey lunar surface

Sneak peek: Moon Dome

From the Grades 3-5 teacher guide

The Moon Dome is a low dome built mostly from moon dust (regolith), so very little has to be carried from Earth. It has a hard outer shell of sintered regolith blocks, shaped like an upside-down hanging chain (a catenary), and a soft inflatable liner inside that holds the air.

In the app it comes apart in 5 layers, from the outside in: outside covering, outer shell, floor and pads, doors and window, and the air liner.

A small winged research drone skimming above the sea

Sneak peek: Flying Sub

From the Grades 3-5 teacher guide

The Flying Submarine is a small research drone that flies to a reef, lands on the water, then dives to check how healthy the ocean is. It carries science tools only. It borrows from real test vehicles: a drone that uses the same propellers in air and water and sinks by taking in water, and Navy research that merges flying and underwater drones.

In the app it comes apart in 5 layers: outside, body, movers, sensors and science, and power. Parts with no published source yet are clearly marked as design reasoning.

BioBee, a small robot bee

Sneak peek: BioBee

From the Grades 3-5 teacher guide

BioBee is a garden-helper robot bee built mostly from plant and natural materials, designed to break down after one working season. The parts that can't safely rot live in one snap-out core that goes home to the dock to be reused. It has no stinger, and it helps real bees but can't replace them.

In the app it comes apart in 5 layers: outside coat and skin, wings, frame, pads and circuits, and the snap-out core and dock. Many of its materials are still lab research, so parts carry a readiness label.

The Portable Habitat, a squat onion-shaped shelter

Sneak peek: Portable Habitat

From the Grades 3-5 teacher guide

The Portable Habitat is a squat, onion-shaped shelter: a round, wide body with a pointy tip, held down all the way round. Its stiff walls are pumped-up panels built like an inflatable paddleboard, covered by a skin kept tight so it can't flap. It is for storms, not tornadoes: in a tornado everyone goes into the small hardened core pod or a certified safe room.

In the app it comes apart in 5 layers: outside, shape holders, anchors, controls and hanging, and the safety core.

A small, sealed robot weather pod with a tough rounded shell

Sneak peek: Robot Weather Pod

From the Grades 3-5 teacher guide

The Robot Weather Pod is a small, sealed, uncrewed pod that measures a storm from the inside and keeps every sample sealed until scientists open it. It borrows real parts from tornado ground probes, dropsondes dropped from aircraft, airbag landings on Mars and sample-return capsules. Honest note: a pod meant to be carried by a tornado has never been built or tested. This is a concept made of real, tested parts.

In the app it comes apart in 6 layers: outside, sensors, samples, radio and memory, landing, and power. Safety rule first: no people ever ride a tornado.

Exploded view of Lumet, the crystal guide bot

Sneak peek: Lumet

From the Grades 3-5 teacher guide

Lumet is the app's guide: a small, round, gem-cut body of clear crystal facets, like a cut geode, so every part inside is visible. Lumet rolls on one thick-walled hollow crystal ball and can hop over obstacles with a burst of air. A pink heart crystal at the centre shows status, not feelings: green = ready, yellow = working, red = let's fix it.

Lumet comes apart in 7 layers, outside to inside. Honest note: Lumet is a design concept. Where a published source backs the science it is cited, and everything else is marked as a design idea.
